KIA Soul parking/reverse camera fog issues

EN

Hi!

have been many examples of kia`s reverse camera that get foggy. That is one of same examples.

Main reason is the moisture that actually get on top of the sensor and in between the lenses..

First, you need to get to pull the camera out. You can use crowbar.. Just kidding.

There are 6 nuts with plastic cover and 2 inside the door panel for 10 mill bit socket. Remember also the plastic clips in the very corners deep in the door area.

After getting it out you see something like that:

Once you remove the small screws outside, unclamp the cable plug, you need to open little that two metal “wings” and remove the top PCB board. Then you get the bottom one , which is hold with two screws again..

After that you come to that:

Now, for sure, you can realize why only wiping the front of the cam doesn`t do any positive effect at all..

In my case, i use zoom lens and try to “evaporate” the moist from behind the lens using sunlight what actually did some effect but the main issue remain.

After the vapur was removed, then inside the lens I saw that start to “grow” that fiber mold(can remember the right term) that you can see in some old photo optics which stay in moisture environment for long time..

And due the lens type - no disassemble possible, now it need new lens package or camera. New camera cost around 300$… what in my perspective is insane. Chine small parking cams can be bought as low as 5-10$..

Hope that will give you some guide lines what to check / fix, and I will be on hunt in ebay.

Good luck
