custom power supply from PSU

EN

That is my version over the PSU to custom power supply theme. Found some old 350W “junk”, bought some cable ends and 4mm standard female banana connectors and here we go.

Info is over the internet, but here is my case:

- green to ground via switch. That is to fire up the thing

- grey > +5V return line. Bring signal when power supply start

- yellow ones : +12V

- red ones: +5V

- orange ones: +3.3V

- black ones : GND

- white : cut

- brown: cut

- violet: +5V , in my case max. 2A When power supply switch is ON but computer is not started, that wire is live.

That violet cable, I connect to power jack at the back of the PSU in series with purple diode. Green via switch to ground. Here was small issue. It took me few attempt to get it to run. Seems not every GND point is suitable before actually power supply start working. Just check. And here are few shots:

post thoughts: keep in mind that some power supply maybe never will start without load attached. In that case put some 10ohm 5-10W resistor between +5V and ground. Or make it on some plug that you can remove if no need. But anyway is wiser to use it loaded instead only measuring what it put out. Good luck !
